What is Bactera and removal instructions
Bactera is a worm that spreads through file sharing networks using the eMule peer-to-peer program. Once executed, the parasite displays a fake error message and installs itself to the system. Then it starts searching for the eMule application. If the latter is present, Bactera creates multiple copies of itself in the shared folder of eMule. Those copies are executable files with meaningful names. The worm does not carry any destructive payload.
Bactera manual removal: Kill processes: antivirscan.exe, bac.exe, bac2.exe
Delete registry values: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\Bactera
Delete files: antivirscan.exe, bac.exe, bac2.exe
Delete directories: C:\Windows\Temp\Bactera Misc: Bactera files can be found in the root of the main hard disk (C:).
